About the Medication
Compounded semaglutide contains the same active ingredient as brand-name medications like Ozempic and Wegovy. It is prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy — not manufactured by a brand-name drug company — using pharmaceutical-grade active ingredient. Compounded semaglutide is not an FDA-approved finished drug product and has not been evaluated by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality. It is prescribed by a licensed clinician who has reviewed your health intake.
Compounded tirzepatide contains the same active ingredient as Mounjaro and Zepbound. Like compounded semaglutide, it is prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy and is not an FDA-approved finished drug product. It has not been evaluated by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality as a compounded preparation.
Compounded semaglutide is prepared in FDA-registered compounding facilities using the same active ingredient as brand-name GLP-1 medications. It is prescribed only by licensed clinicians who have reviewed your health history. That said, compounded drug products are not FDA-approved and have not been evaluated by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality. There are risks associated with any medication. Speak with your clinician if you have specific health concerns before starting treatment.
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist — it mimics the GLP-1 hormone to reduce appetite and slow gastric emptying. Tirzepatide is a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist, acting on two hormone pathways simultaneously. Clinical data suggests tirzepatide may produce greater average weight reduction, though individual results vary significantly. Tirzepatide is priced higher. Your clinician can help assess which medication is more appropriate for your health profile and goals.
Yes. Licensed compounding pharmacies are permitted to prepare medications under applicable state and federal pharmacy laws. The regulatory environment for compounded GLP-1 medications has evolved in recent years, in part tied to FDA shortage designations. PureForty works exclusively with licensed, accredited compounding pharmacies that operate within current law. For the most current regulatory information, consult with your clinician or pharmacist.

Side Effects & Safety
The most commonly reported side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. These are most common during the initial dose escalation period and typically improve as your body adjusts. Eating smaller, lower-fat meals and staying hydrated helps most people manage GI symptoms. If side effects are persistent or severe, contact your care team through the platform.
GLP-1 medications are not appropriate for everyone. They should not be used by people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2), those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those with a known allergy to the active ingredient. Your clinician will screen your intake for these and other contraindications before issuing a prescription.
Contact your provider directly through the platform's secure messaging system. For urgent but non-emergency concerns, mark your message as urgent. For any medical emergency — including severe symptoms, chest pain, or difficulty breathing — call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately. Do not wait for a message response.

Yes. Dose adjustments are part of normal GLP-1 treatment and are handled at refill check-ins with your clinician. If you want to switch from semaglutide to tirzepatide (or vice versa), contact your care team through the platform — they'll assess whether a switch is appropriate and guide you through it. All medication changes require clinical review.

There are no cancellation fees or penalties.
